Recycled polyester, also known as rPet, produced from recycled PET plastic, which is found in plastic bottles.

The PET plastic is cleaned, crushed and recycled into a new recycled polyester thread. Fabric is weaved from this thread, making every element sustainable and eco-friendly.

In this way, we manage waste more efficiently, give new life to plastic waste which would otherwise end up in the landfill or oceans. This also reduces the production of virgin raw material, reducing the consumption of water and energy and in process generating less waste. A lot of companies claim to offer recycled fabric garments, however, very few have the official license to do so. We are among those few companies who have the necessary certification.

We work with our factories, workers and suppliers, with the aim of developing a supply chain that respects and promotes human rights, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. For example, we ensure decent working conditions and a ban on discrimination, forced labour and child labour.

Whether it was the Swadeshi Movement during the struggle for our Independence from foreign rule or the decades that followed as the country tried to find its economic footing, buying local seems to be an idea that is baked into the fabric of what it means to be Indian. And in 2020 as the global pandemic threatens to derail the local economy, there is again a call to buy local.

At S&T we strongly believe in make in India, use local raw material and locally manufacture, even the smallest items as buttons are all locally sourced or manufactured.

Fabric softness is another important characteristic. All our fabric are soft, comfortable and yet durable.A lot goes behind selecting a suitable fabric for every style. Our team of experts consider softness as one of the key features in the selection process.

The most important factor affecting comfort in the clothing is the movement of heat and water vapour through a garment. Our garments boast of lightly woven fabric which allow excessive heat or perspiration to easily diffuse and evaporate outside thereby allowing complete comfort.

Eco Friendly Dyes

GOTS i.e. Global Organic Textile Standard is a textile production certification that limits the use of toxic bleaches, dyes and other chemical inputs during the production process of textiles. In our printing and dyeing process we use chemicals and dyes that are GOTS certified.

No use of Hand tags

Brand Hand tags are used for communication, but it is a waste that ends up in trash most of the times. The main raw material utilised for hand tags is paper.
As we all know paper comes from forests. Millions of acres of forests are lost each year, for paper and pulp.
Deforestation and forest destruction is the second leading cause of carbon pollution, causing greenhouse gas emissions. Forests have the potential to absorb about one-tenth of global carbon emissions. Deforestation has a spiraling downward effect, given that the lack of forests increases carbon emissions and the possibility of absorbing them, thus affecting climate change, which then in turn increases the average temperature which will ultimately affect the growth of existing forests. It is said that if current deforestation continues, it will take less than 100 years to destroy all the rainforest on earth. For these and many other reasons, we have decided to not use hand tags at all. Another initiative by S&T to be eco friendly.

Fast fashion brands choose mass production which leads to excess stock that is not sold on the retail market. This needs to be discarded by the brands in order to make space for the new collection. This excess stock is either incinerated or end up in the landfill or the ocean.

However at S&T, all our garments are made from scratch once an order is received. We hold zero ready inventory, which helps further our quest to become a sustainable business from an ecological point of view. By not holding any ready pieces in stock, we try our bit to reduce wastage.

As a slow fashion brand, we also believe in quality over quantity, Less is more. Hence we use premium quality fabric and materials which will have longer life in your wardrobe, there by reducing wastage.
